Introduction
In this day of age when a person pulls a muscle, has back pain, or develops a cough they run straight to the doctor for a cure all pill. Throughout time methods of treatment have developed and have become more complex; as a result, many patients receive pills and surgeries that may fix the problem but at the cost of a lifetime of pain. What people don’t see is that there are alternative medicines that are less harmful and intrusive to the human body. Statement of Problem Medical practitioners have forgotten about traditional methods of treating pains and illnesses. Methods such as Acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicine are treatments that are overlooked as a means of treating pain and illness; these medicines are also unused because people do not know that they have these resources. Also if a patient does not have someone to explain what to bring, wear, and expect in treatment when entering an alternative medicine clinic then the patient can feel uncomfortable. Proposed Solution Acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicine a are great means of treating pain and illness; these methods are overlooked because people do not know about them. This problem can be solved by contacting the Oregon Association of Nurses and recommending them to urge nurses and nurse practitioners in Klamath Falls to explain what alternative medicine is and how it can help with pain and illness; also it would be beneficial to refer patients to alternative medicine clinics to treat what their pains or illnesses before any pills given, or surgery done. Scope The proposed technical report will cover why the Oregon Nurse Association should have nurses explain what alternative medicine is, what the fields of alternative medicine are, and how each field can benefit a person. Furthermore, this report will explain why it is essential for patients to see alternative medicine clinics before any serious medications or surgeries are done; also this report is being written to urge the Klamath Falls nurses and nurse practitioners to urge patients to try alternative medicine first. This report will not cover specific treatments used in alternative care …show more content…

Qualifications
I am qualified to write this report for three reasons, (1) I have always had an interest in alternative medicine since I graduated high school, (2) I work in an acupuncture office and I am also an active patient at my place of work, and (3) by the end of this term I will have earned an Associate of Science (AS) and by next summer I plan to attend an acupuncture college in Portland.
