Jay Z Leadership Traits

Shawn Carter, also known as Jay-Z, has several leadership traits that yield impressive accomplishment in the evolving and fickle music industry. He grew up in the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn; his father abandoned his family, and he sold crack cocaine to furnish for his household (Birchmeier, n.d.). These factors create a less than idyllic upbringing for an individual that according to Forbes magazine is currently worth over $450 million (Hip-Hop's Future Billionaires, n.d.). A clothing line, record label, restaurant, and sports franchise owner Jay-Z is an entrepreneur extraordinaire, but what traits does he exhibit to be prosperous.
In a 2010 Forbes interview with Warren Buffett, Jay-Z spoke of the secrets to his achievement:
• Desire
• Determination
• Discipline
• Aptitude to disregard emotion
• Dependability
• Ability to mature from gaffes
• A component of luck and exceptional fortune
