Jerry Rice: My Definition Of Success

Improved Essays
Everyone wants to be successful, who would not want to be acknowledged? A lot of people do not want to put in the very hard work it takes to be successful, and some people are just lucky enough to be born into success. My definition of success is someone who works hard all day every day and actually earns their fame and fortune. Someone who gets up early in the morning to train and work hard for what it is that they want, whether it is ambitions, or riches, or recognition, or to just be able to get to the NFL. First, someone that is a hard worker, and earns what they have in his or her life, that is someone who is successful in, in my eyes anyway. To be successful one does not necessarily have to be rich and famous, but if one works hard for fame, and fortune it just makes it that much better when they achieve it. Second, accomplishments are very, very important, whether it is a personal one, or not a personal achievement. A lot of people have intentions that they would love to achieve, but not everyone has the chance to attempt to achieve them. Last, Jerry Rice, he is famous, and very fortunate man, he has accomplished more things than he probably thought he ever would, he is in the hall of fame, keep that in mind. All in all, success, is more than just being rich, or famous, but it is actually earning it, that is what makes someone a successful person. As a matter of fact, being a success, can be that one is wealthy, famous, and everyone likes, but that is not how I see success. A lot of people that are successful, are rich, and famous, but being rich and famous does not make one successful. Most celebrities are successful, unless they are born into triumph, but they are usually rich, because they are prosperous, but they are not successful because they are rich, if that makes sense. I hope to one day, be very successful, and play in the National Football League, or the NFL for short, that is my biggest dream. As can be seen, to be successful, does not necessarily have to be rich and famous, but earning it, makes someone that much more successful. As an illustration, a lot of successful people, have a lot of things that they have accomplished in their lives. …show more content…
I would love to go to the NFL, it would be a dream come true, ha would be my biggest accomplishment ever. Accomplishments can be personal goals, or they can also be things one wants to accomplish doing anything that they want, well it is things one wants to accomplish in their lives. They can be to someday get married, or they could be to be the best player in the history of the NFL, they can anything one may want. After all, accomplishments can be so, so many different things, it is way too many to even keep up with them. To emphasize, Jerry Rice is the best wide receiver in NFL history of the game of football. He holds almost all of the receiving records in the NFL hall of fame book of records. He is so very talented, obviously, he is also very, very rich and famous because he is successful. He is in the NFL hall of fame, as the best wide receiver in history, with as many records as he holds, I do not know how he could not be. Overall, there are no other wide receivers in

Alex David Persuasive Speech Do you think kids should get participation awards for something they aren’t really good at? Kids shouldn’t be given awards that they don’t deserve, there should only be one winner and one winner only, instead of everyone winning wins. My reasons for thinking this are: people who think they are good at something tend to do the same thing, people who think they are good at something don’t try to get better because they think they are good already, and the real winners of the award don’t feel as good about their accomplishment since everyone got an award just like them.…

We as a society have come to believe that everybody should feel good at all times, and no one should be left out. We start with the youth and the "everybody gets a trophy" mentality. Sure, it makes you feel great to get rewarded for doing something great but after having a horrible season, a trophy just seems to add insult to injury. Now I'm not talking about the 6 year olds who come on to the field and give it their all for the fun of just playing a sport (score should not even be kept at this age, just let the little players find out if they even like the game), but when 13 and 14 year olds expect a trophy for showing up, I draw the line and I believe rightfully so.…

From a young age, I always loved playing football; being out on the field is one of the best feelings ever. The adrenaline, hearing the crowd cheering, scoring touchdowns; it a rush that goes through my veins and I cannot get enough of it. I would play because I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how the simple game of football would change my life for the better. Growing up I used to see my friends come home from little league practice everyday on school days and that really used to make me mad. They used to get home when the street lights were on and we were not able to come outside and play at that time.…

Languages of Appreciation Raymond Noe (2013) defines psychological success as the “the feeling of pride and accomplishment that comes from achieving life goals that are not limited to achievements at work” and that “psychological success is more under the employee’s control than the traditional career goals” (p. 368). The belief that employees should feel appreciated without affirmation is a historical concept that modern society is altering.
