I Learned About Being A Teacher Essay

What I’ve learned about being a teacher that I didn’t realize before this experience was that being a teacher is exhausting and that a teacher’s job never ends. At the beginning of the semester, I wasn’t that tired. I would just go and help out in the classroom. As I gradually began to talk over, the more exhausted I became. I had to write lesson plans for my units on top of my own personal school work. It was hard to find a balance between the two but I manage to get them both done. At the beginning of the semester, Ms. Lee told me that there would be two weeks where she would leave me in the class by myself. She would be around the school but not in the classroom. Well those two weeks came way faster than I expected. The first two weeks of November, I started my two weeks. I enjoyed it for the most part but it was very exhausting. On my planning period, I was trying to get things ready for when they returned from related arts. I sometimes would forget to go to the bathroom and have to hold it until the co-teacher came into the room. I had to manage my time wisely. If we went over on time, that could possibly throw the entire day off. I didn’t want to play “catch up” all day to make up for lost time.
Ms. Lee had me write my own lesson plans for two units. That was difficult at first. It eventually became easier but I was happy not to have to write anymore. I felt proud when I completed a lesson plan that I created. The unit I created on animals made me feel the proudest. I…
