I feel like this course gives you just a tiny glimpse of what management is like and paints a picture with the different aspects that can make a leader great. I believe that to be a great manager you need to understand what human relations is at the core of its definition. This is what the book says about it; “If the worker is concerned with such objectives as good pay, adequate working conditions, a chance to interact with other personnel, and the opportunity to do interesting and meaningful work. Human relations, then, is concerned with four major areas: the individual worker, the group, the environment in which the work is performed, and the leader responsible for seeing that everything is done properly.” Human relations is concerned with …show more content…
By having a few of my good friends evaluate me, I realized that I communicate the way I think I am communicating. All three of them were very close to what I had rated myself at, meaning that I am coming across the way I am trying to. I definitely liked this assessment as well as the getting other feedback. I think it is very important to know what others think of you, especially if you are trying to manage those people. This was another great communication tool because it gave me insight on what I needed to work on with those specific people. If one thought I joked around too much and never got anything done, then I know to lighten up on the joking and be more focused on getting work done. I will also be bringing this along with me to help me get the opinions of those who will be apart of my team in the future. The condense version is, “I will meet or exceed the expectation of me, set by the words I say and the knowledge of my goals and aspirations, and measured by my day-to-day actions. In my journey of life I want to adventure lots, love even more, and make a difference in the world.” This was one of those assignments that stick with you for the rest of the your life. Although I have not got to the point where I am living this in my daily, it is still drawn together by the core principles that I believe are really important. I definitely think a lot about what my life will look like when I get to the stage where this is my mantra for the rest of my time here on earth.
