An operational support system (OSS) is a group of computer programs or an IT system used by communications service providers for monitoring, controlling, analyzing and managing a computer. John Lewis do this so they can see the products they are selling well they day by their till. The till sends information to a data base that records what they are selling and what is getting returned. Data Analysis:
Data analysis, is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling date with the goal to discovering key information, suggesting, conclusions, and supporting decision making towards a subject. John Lewis do this by gathering data about produces that have been selling or not selling well, they look at sales, and the profits they are making. They would look at the end goal of how much they want to make to the profit they have at the moment and then weather or not if that product is good for the business. Decision Making:

John Lewis uses data to do this because if a product is selling well, they will buy more of that product in however if a produce isn't selling well they won't buy that product again. Sales can also support this by the profit and targets they need to achieve in a space of time example would be a week or a couple of months depending on the product. Data Communications:
Data communication is where you use technology to communicate with someone this could be with a client or a customer or a member of staff. The common communication types are telephone, computer networking and radio/satellite communication. All technology communication need a link either radio wave via satellite or an internet connection via WIFI, for example using a computer to send or receive email will need a WIFI connection so they could communicate with whoever they need
