Apple vs. Best Buy
In the article, Why the Apple Store is Changing its Name, the company, Apple, is choosing to take its current store locations and redefine them by changing their names and adding a unique twist to them. For instance, in New York, the new store would be called Apple Fifth Avenue, instead of the generic Apple Store and giving reference to the well-known tourist attraction. While this may seem like a great idea right now, Apple is going to have to consider how much of an investment they are willing to make in additional resources; time, money, labor, and advertising to name a few. The end goal of these transformations of store formats, is to create the atmosphere for social gatherings in addition to the standardized location for technology help and advice through the Genius Bar.
This change is going to affect many people; Apple users and non-users, investors, competitors, employees, advertising agencies, the local community, and architectures for instance. All the named above, could either be affected negatively or positively depending on their situations. However, competitors, such as Best Buy as an example, where they offer tech services as well that are similar, will be the most affected by this decision by Apple. …show more content…
One process competitors or Apple can do is to conduct a SWOT analysis and see what is their strengths and weaknesses internally, and what are there opportunities and threats externally. From there, they can collect data and see what it is that their consumers and shoppers really want. Keeping the consumer in mind is going to help with the business’s needs as consumers know what they are shopping for and what they want, and if a retailer ignores their requests, they are losing business and potential
