A company can determine if they have a good strategy by testing it. The first test(s) that comes to mind is from the article “Have you tested your strategy lately?” It is stated in the article that few companies can even pass four of the ten tests. The ten tests help a firm to determine the strength of their current strategy. The first test is important as it helps for a company to determine if their strategy will really stand up and challenge other companies in the market. With this test competitors should be changing to counter your strategy and if not then your strategy did not work. Second, companies want to have a strategic competitive advantage that is valuable, rare, and hard to imitate. Third test, helps the company keep in mind to look at all things granular which makes it also harder for competitors to copy all those little steps. Fourth test, tests to see if your company is innovative and keeping up with times. The fifth test helps to determine if your company looks different from other competitor(s) which is the goal, to be different from your competition. …show more content…
The seventh test helps to gauge if your strategy is able to change as technology and other factors affect the market place. The eight test helps to bring to light if any bias is within the company that effects the strategy, or if bias exist that is meant to save a particular department or person. The ninth test is to make sure the strategy is implemented and done correctly as poor implementation is a large factor for the failure of many companies.
