Woods World Family Child Care is a family operated child care home located in the southeastern portion of Gaston County, North Carolina (NC). Our initial license was received in February 2007 from the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education under the direction of the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Family Child Care Homes (FCCH) follow the same regulations as child care centers and must adhere to all NC General Statues put forth in Chapter 110, Article 7 (NCGA, 2014) while caring for children.
Our FCCH is located in a neighborhood recognized by community members as a safe and friendly place where neighbors trust one another and help each other out. With only “26 FCCHs in Gaston County” (D. Sykes, personal communication, October 1, 2015), we are honored to serve our community with quality care and open hearts, forming relationships that bond our family with others. Although my name appears as the registered owner of Woods World (NC DCDEE, 2015), my husband and I are in partnership together. We both maintain all credentials to care for and teach children in our home. Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy, caring environment for the welfare of children in our care. Learning experiences are provided to empower children to reach their fullest potential, and gain confidence, independence, and self-esteem. At the same time, we endeavor to provide well-defined expectations for children of all ages.
