Precious’s individual resilience was surprisingly strong given her severe and abysmal circumstances. Despite her generally negative circumstances Precious is an example of elasticity and significance of empowerment. Even though Precious was illiterate and pregnant with a second child she never stopped believing that there may be better things to come. “The other day, I cried. But you know what? Fuck that day. That's why God, or whoever, makes other days”(Daniels, 2009). Her personal resilience is a strong example that connections especially in the therapeutic field are vital to foster growth and further encouragement. Her relationship with Ms. Rain was extremely valuable, offering a model that Precious could look up to and gain insight
