A major problem has erupted over the past decade within the United States. Gun control has killed thousands of people alone in the United States. There has been a total of 7,940 incidents with guns in the year 2015, I believe there has to be a stronger form of gun control in the United States. There is roughly 300 million guns in the U.S, one in three Americans own one of these guns for their own use. Just like owning a gun one in three Americans have some sort of police record. As shown in figure 1, the United States has a large variety of gun owners, especially in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming which 50% of their civilians own a firearm. Figure 1
Facts in Numbers
Gun violence has killed over 13,399 people in the year 2015, that’s over 3 thousand more people than in the year 2014. Gun violence is increasing in size dramatically due to the lack of gun restrictions in the U.S. Just in the first 3 months of 2016, there has already been 2,049 deaths, and 7,940 incidents where a gun was in the situation. The United States is only 60 days into the year 2016 and it already has 15% of the amount of murders from the previous year. Around 60 days in and there has already been 37 mass shootings, 377 home invasions, and 404 accidental shootings, 89 children under the age of 11 killed/injured, and 448 teenagers (12-17) killed/injured and 4,016 people injured.
