Groupon Sales Message Examples

The sales message I analyzed was an email from Groupon. It used scarcity to influence its audience to purchase their products. They offer time sensitive discounted prices on a variety of products and services. Putting a time limit on discounted products and services makes the consumer feel compelled to buy quickly in order to reap the benefits of the deal.

This email used emotional and logical appeals but they cater more towards the emotional side. The goods and services are usually for purchases that would be considered a “want” not a need. For example they have discounted massage therapy services being offered. So the emotional side of the consumer says yes I need a massage because I work so hard and deserve to treat myself.
