Summer Health Program

As it just so happens, I have been trying to limit the amount of junk food that I intake. While it is not bad to have a dessert at the end of the day, we must be more aware of what we are eating, how much, where it came from, and regulate a fitness program along with watching our diet to create a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I have been aware of great changes in my food choices over the course of a year and a half. It began by developing an addiction to soda, mainly Dr. Pepper. Since then, my diet has fluctuated since then to one extreme to another. I have been really healthy at times, however, I did have a daily soda intake, but that was my only junk food. I have been working out a program that I will follow throughout the summer time to help me break my bad eating habits and develop a better, healthier lifestyle. Due to my stomach issues, I cannot eat in the morning without feeling nauseous throughout the rest of the of the morning or even the rest of the day. However, I have found that drinking a fruit smoothie or a protein shake is a decent substitute. It gives me the energy I need in the morning as well as being agreeable with my stomach. When I was younger, when I was bored I would grab a snack and watch television, play video games, or read. This was a habit I had broken once I got into high school, but I have recently fallen back into that habit, which not only makes me unhealthy, but it causes me to procrastinate my schoolwork and my grades begin to slip. Therefore, I have resolved to break this habit during the summer as well. I will have a job and other goals that I have set for myself to accomplish such as practicing music for two hours; piano for one hour, guitar for a half hour, voice for a half hour. Being occupied will allow make it difficult for me to become bored enough to want to eat and watch television. While I am not a super athletic person, it is important to be active and exercise to maintain your health. I have developed an exercise routine that I will perform in the morning before I shower and prepare for the rest of my day. I have also decided I am going to break my caffeine addiction. My goal is to limit myself to one bottle of soda a week rather than one or two per day. There are also other means of keeping healthy like caring for your skin and teeth. Both of which I have developed plans. By the end of the summer I hope to be healthier and

I plan to change my behavior by resolving to eat significantly less sugar than I currently do. On Lab 1.2, my nutrition score was two out of ten (2/10). I eat few fruits and vegetables, I never consider how many saturated or trans fats I consume and I eat copious amounts of sugar on a daily basis. The only reason I achieved a score of two is because I rarely skip meals, preferring to eat continuously. Despite these bad habits, I am not overweight.…

Deep down I have always known that I needed to cut out sodas. I actually just recently started this habit of drinking sodas. It all began when I started working at the movies and there was nothing else for employees there to drink but soda. Of course, you could purchase a ½ liter water bottle for $4 but I was broke, so I had to stick with the free soda every day I worked. The first month I never noticed a change in my skin, but after about three months I had really bad acne.…

The Grades Challenge Freshman year was a difficult year for my grades. I was failing a few classes and it seemed like the harder I focused on the percentage, the farther I got away from it. I talked to my teachers about how I could try to get my grades up and was simply told “you won’t get a better grade.” I was stuck with what I had is what I was told, and they ended up being right about that year. I was worried that maybe something was wrong; maybe I wasn’t as smart as I used to be.…

I have never experienced therapy, but always had imagined how the process would be. I pictured a couch and a therapist on a fancy chair like in the movies, and I would just lay there and vent about my problems. Initially, I was very excited to see someone whom I can speak with and possibly help me resolve my issues, but that excitement did not last long. Anxiety kicked in as I got a phone call from the therapist, informing me that we would start next week. I started to become very nervous about the whole client-therapist relationship, for what if I did not connect with.…

I decided for my behavior change assessment that I would clean eat; I would be specifically eliminating soda, juices, processed foods, and eating out. WebMD describes the clean eating diet as avoiding all saturated fat, trans fats, over processed, refined foods such as white flour, sugar, sugar-loaded colas, juices, and alcohol (WebMD, 2010). Food choice decisions are frequent, multifaceted, situational, dynamic, and complex and lead to food behaviors where people acquire,…
