Principal Hoagland cancels prom, in Kellenberg Memorial High School, in Uniondale, New York. The reason was because parents were planning on spending $1,000 on prom dresses, tuxedos and immoral activities, after prom for teenagers; immoral activities that involved drinking and sexual activities. These immoral situations can lead teens to bad things like losing control of themselves and teen pregnancy, which can cause complaints against the school. Also because it 's a Catholic School, I also agree with Hoagland on cancelling prom to avoid immoral. But at I also disagree with not having a prom for the school.

I understand it’s expensive to buy dresses, tux, limos, and hotel rooms for their child. But the principal has no control over rather parents’ spending money on their children. Parents can do whatever they want with their own money. The Principal may look out for the parents, but it’s their own money and their own child. The parents wanted to make their kids happy, and by sending their child to go out to prom and have a fun night.

The parents would also spend a lot of money on hotels for their child to drink and have sex, which also led to the cancellation of the prom. The principal wanted to keep the students from getting involved in drinking and sex. The reason is because even if the teens are young adults, many of the students are not at the age of 18 or older. Many teens are not mature or responsible enough to do any of these things until they’re moving out of…
