Without it, friendships will most likely become defunct. People need to be able to talk to family, friends, peers, co-workers, partners/lovers, etc., in order to have healthy relationships. Communication is all about sharing. Whether it is sharing thoughts, opinions, or feelings, talking any situation out is so important. In a friendship, no one is perfect. Friends are going to upset each other sometimes and occasionally have a fall out. That is normal. What is not normal or healthy is not communicating. If no one knows how each other feel in a certain situation or if no one can understand their friend’s reactions to something, then where will they get? Communication is not all about conflict. Sometimes it is just important to talk about how their day went, how they are feeling, what is on their mind, and so on. Friends should be able to criticize each other without conflict. Criticism is not about just pointing out someone’s flaws. It is about being comfortable enough to share thoughts about a certain subject, whether it is what someone is doing or saying. Positive criticism is not putting each other down. It is simply communicating how to improve on something. Not communicating properly or not communicating at all hampers friendships. Austin is stubborn simply because he is somewhat of a debater and always comes up with ways to counter a statement. At the same time, when he realizes he is wrong, he is remorseful. Communication is not a problem with him. He is very mature for his age and knows that talking it out is how to get to the root of a problem. Saul is always ready to let others know how he feels, when there is a problem, or when there is something going on in his life. Likewise, there is no problem with communication for him either. Both will stay up late, until the early mornings, just talking about life, religion, school, life at home, conspiracies, etc. The list goes on. They both believe

Friendship is formed in many different ways. Friendship could be something that will make you feel warm inside or could make you feel miserable. In other words, a person could have a good and a bad friend. They are both still under the definition of “friendship” but have a different way in presenting themselves. A good example of friendship could be found in a classic novella named “ Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck. I tend to talk a lot and will even talk over people if I come up with a thought or idea and I do it without realizing it. So what I personally need to do is to self-monitor my interactions with people and when talking about issues and to listen more and to wait to speak to voice my opinions. Another way to communicate more effectively is when we get mad, to wait first before we talk about the problem. We need to calm down so that we do not say things that we do not mean. This will also give us time to think about what we want to say to one another and how we want to say it. We also need to be honest with one another and not hide things so that problems do not keep building up or to keep things inside of us until the point where we let it all out and things can get destructive. Self-disclosure is important to develop a close relationship and being true to yourself helps build an honest relationship. So being honest and true with one another and being willing to self-disclose our inner feelings, thoughts, opinions, and ambitions is key to keeping the relationship healthy and alive. We also need to avoid using media to communicate about any problems we have and to rely on synchronous communication such as talking face to face about any personal…

Communication is the act in which you use words, sounds, signs, or behaviours to exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc., to somebody else. This maybe so, but it is evident in the short story, “The Father” by Hugh Garner, that the character Johnny and his father have no progress in their ability to connect with one another. However, I believe that Johnny’s ignorant nature caused him to act in such a way towards his father. Also, that Johnny’s impulsive trait made him drift away from John even further. Finally, Johnny’s recalcitrant self wasn’t processing how he could fix his relationship between him and John. By trying to see another person’s point of view, people can survive difficult family relationships.…

Growing up as an only child, I’ve always been required to possess the ability to communicate with adults. Whether it was just simply greeting them at the door or small talking, I was always forced into the spotlight. These awkward at first interactions forced me to develop the capability of small talk and eventually built up the confidence for me to start to convey my ideas to others, especially those with seniority over me. This confidence has led me to impart my own take on things, especially in English class. Even if it turns out that I am wrong, I still attempt to communicate my thoughts in order to be peer-reviewed and see how my perspective compares to others. Another instance in which I utilize my communication skills occurs whenever I am having a problem with someone, which isn’t very often. Instead of ignoring them, I communicate my issue with them in an effort to resolve the problem and move forward. No matter how frustrated someone makes me, I rarely intentionally avoid them because I believe that if I can effectively communicate the perspective I hold on a complication with someone else, I can resolve the problem or, at worse, agree to disagree. Communication remains a significantly important strength to possess owing to its repeated use throughout one’s…
