There is a four-step interview process conducted at the scene of a crime with a witness. The first step is general basic questions such as "what happened?" or "what did you see or hear?" When the witness is answering these questions, the should be able to do so without interruption. Meaning, there should be no notes, audio recordings, or visual recordings at this time because notes slow down or interrupt a witness's concentration, and recordings also intimidate most witnesses and will not give a true interview because they will choose their words carefully. Informational Interview For this assignment, I chose to conduct an informational interview with Claudia Romo, a Career Technical Education (CTE) Counselor at Rio Hondo College. The reason I chose to interview a CTE counselor was to learn more about the CTE Counseling and how different the student-counselor interactions are to general academic counselors. The informational interview provided me with a different lens in viewing community college as I discovered the different counseling objectives CTE counselors have to general counselors. These counseling objectives range from longer counseling sessions, direct employer interactions, job site field trips, and career related workshops.…

For the informational interview I contacted a family friend Rebecca Gray Detling who is an executive sales manager with ICH Global LLC. I first just started off asking Rebecca on what she majored in college, how it prepared her for her job, what courses were the most valuable, and what class she wished she would have taken while in school. While in college Rebecca majored in physical therapy and had a minor in finance because she knew she wanted a future in the business field while helping out people in the medical field. Once out of college though she said that the most valuable class she took was a little of every class because with a career in the medical field, sales, and finance not one class is better than the other but a little of each class was extremely valuable.…

This interview took place in Dean Vargas’ office. As a first year advisor in the school of engineering, she has been busy in the past month assisting first year students in picking which type of engineering they are most interested in and helping them to plan their schedules for the upcoming year. This meant that she did not have the time to meet somewhere else. If this were not a factor, I would have suggested meeting in a cafe as that would have caused Dean Vargas to view me less as one of her many students and more as an individual woman, coming to her for assistance in navigating the unique set of circumstance women engineers need to navigate. I believe that as a result of holding the meeting in her office and not in a secondary location,…
