He was labelled as a suspect in a theory by the LAPD investigating the shooting. However, he denied any involvement in the murder which led to being dropped from the suit (Blankstein, 2005). The case has been frustrated by several key witnesses withdrawing their initial statements. Others were simply reluctant to testify citing fears of revenge. Attorneys representing the LAPD dismissed the case citing lying witnesses and informants that were unreliable. The theories developed were cited as lacking substantial evidence to make them believable.
The types of questions asked on direct examination would seek to find out the relationship between witnesses with the slain victim. The availability of potential disputes would be asked, their nature and how they got resolved or if they were pending. Proof of substantiating claims would also be sorted. In addition, the manner in which the witnesses came to get the information would also be important in direct examination.
Some of the important points for cross examination would be looking at criminal records of witnesses. This will poke holes in the reliability of information presented. Depending on the testimony given, a recount of the same would be important to try establishing some form of change or mistakes in information such as dates and times.
