In past centuries animal’s lives were seen to be a small price to pay for the comfort of mankind (Davis, 2013). This way of thinking was justified continuously …show more content…
They would not be abused or caged by any human and would be able to live free. Animals rights have been pushed to the back burner when it comes to the needs of humans. Products from animals are in higher demand due to population increases, therefore people are going to any length to get what they think they need.
Factory farms main goals are to maximize product with minimal cost. So far, animals have been mistreated in various ways that are inhumane actions. On factory farms they are kept in small metal cages with other animals. Both female and male animals are being sexually assaulted in the factory farms. Workers and supervisors on the farms take out their anger on the animals(PETA). Some have reported that these actions were done just out of fun. They manually extract semen from the males and then they restrain the females and forcefully inseminate them in hopes of increasing reproduction. The living conditions are unsanitary and not safe. Chances of catching a disease and spreading more bacteria are raised because of the proximity the animals are kept in. These spaces are so small it inhibits any normal movement and behavior for the animal. Random screws and poles can cut or harm …show more content…
These unsafe and cramped cages lead to sores and lesions on the animals. This allows for easier infections and could led to raised mortality rates. Each year around 97% of 10 billion animals that are tortured and killed are farm animals (Factory Farming). Many banned antibiotics and drugs are given to cows to produce more milk. These drugs eventually lead to immunity in the animal. Once its been given to them on so many occasions they stop working and a new drug must be found or made. Some of the medications have side effects. The drug recombinant Bovine growth hormone (rBRH) cause for a cow’s utters to become infected (FASSA, 2013). Infected malformed utters allows puss and blood to enter the milk. Ingesting animal products has shown to increase the resilience rate in people (Antibiotic Resistance 40). People are being hospitalized for simple viruses, because their body will not allow for the antibiotics to
