During this time of the month Mexico is having an important celebration known as “dia de los muertos” meaning day of the dead. During this cultural art event I observed how many GGC students engaged with other students to create beautiful works of art and as well be able to experience art in another type of form. The main goal of this event was to draw a colorful vibrant piece of artwork that represented what Hispanic culture was for each one them. I found this very amusing because there was once again a combination of both people who came from Hispanic culture and the rest who did not. The taste of Latin America consisted of different foods ranging from different parts of Latin America such as Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and among many other countries. There was a variety of food such as rice and beans which is a typical dish from most of the countries in Latin America. Another type of food which in El Salvador is considered a snack was popusas. It is a thick soft flour tortilla filled with cheese in the middle kind of like a quesadilla though it was bigger and cheesier. During this event I observed how the cultural diversity was based on food and the way many people had the opportunity to try different flavors from the many dishes that were provided to them. Both the cultural the cultural art and taste of Latin America were a great experience which I had fun participating. I had the chance to see art differently and was introduced to new types of dishes from different types of Hispanic

The Great Wall is only ten minutes away from me. I have seen and passed by it many times. The mural by Judith F. Baca started something that depicts the unity of a community, the pride and struggles for Chicanos living in an Anglo-American society, and the education one can attain from a painting on the wall. The mural is not just there for display; instead it takes on an environment and creates it into a site where everyone can connect and visually study the efforts and history amongst the…
