This story begins at 10:30pm on November 29, 2012 when a car sped by the Cleveland Justice Center. The drivers were Timothy and Malissa and the couple were driving a light blue Chevy Malibu. After they drove by the officers claimed they heard a gunshot and began to peruse them in a high speed car chase. The chase included 62 police cars driving at speeds at almost a hundred miles per hour. The chase came to an end when Timothy and Malissa got cornered in the parking lot of a middle school in Cleveland. At this time there was a standoff where the police officers were completely surrounding the vehicle. Some officers claimed that they saw a gun, whereas others said the driver was trying to run them over with the car. Whatever their intention was the police officers thought that they needed to fire 137 rounds to take down two people. When the police investigated the crime scene they realized that there was no gun or weapon in the car. One of the most horrific parts about this story is that one policemen, officer Brelo, stood on top of the roof of the Chevy Malibu after everyone else had stopped firing and shot even more shots through the front windshield at the victims. The cases of Timothy Russell, Malissa Williams, and Tamir Rice are especially cruel because of the unfair circumstances the victims faced. The worst part about these sad and tragic deaths is that the men who murdered them walked free with no charge. I believe while heartedly that racism was behind their motives, and it is the reason that they were allowed to walk free. Overall I believe that every life is sacred no matter what race and that we should work together to try to end racism and not lose any more innocent
