Only the Brave Can Change the Outcome “What’s going on?” “How did this happen?” “Is their condition well?” These questions are what a surgeon or doctor hears daily when trying to delicately handle the feelings of his patient’s loved ones’ in delivering prognoses. It is explained that the father of the house had a problem with an artery where blood wasn’t circulating and was inundating the chest cavity. It is also revealed that if he hadn’t made it to the hospital on time, or if the surgery was not successful, the man would have passed on. The inspiration to be able to deliver news of a successful surgery is a dream-like idea that would encourage most people to go into the medical field. Whether it be on-the-job training, part time study, or a fully developed educational degree the type and amount is determined by the career. The most commonly known information about a Surgeon is that you need a four year bachelor’s degree and have graduated from an approved 4 year medical school. What people do not know is that during college years you need to have studied different areas of biology, chemistry, Physics, Psychology and mathematics (Furgusion 's career guidance center). Once you obtain your bachelor’s degree you must already have applied and been accepted into medical school. If worrying about which college might be the best, you should know that truthfully it doesn’t matter where you go to college as long as you get your basics done and get in to Medical School. Once accepted to medical school you have two years of lectures and learning and then for your final years of MED school you are working rotations at a hospital learning the different types of jobs that you might be interested in. After graduating from medical school you are a certified physician, congratulations! Now to further your advancement in your career a 5 year residency is necessary for training needed to pass the boards test for standardized surgery. Once completed, another 2-3 years of specialized training for the heart and chest cavity is required to pass a boards test specifically for heart surgery. In these 13 or more years after high school if everything is accomplished the title and responsiablilties of a Cardiothoracic surgeon would be given to you
