If a questionnaire devoted to me was distributed to an audience, many of its members would respond that I am a reserved and intelligent young lady. Although those two adjectives suit me well, I am more than those members’ perception. In corporation to being reserved and intelligent, I embody an ambitious persona that surpasses many of my peers. Since I was a fifth grader, diagnosing diseases, treating symptoms, and performing surgeries in the comfort of my lab coat were the recurring images in my mind. I desire to make an impact in the industry of medicine to help children conquer illnesses. I received a stethoscope for winning a writing contest which, to me, symbolized my future achievements and proficiency as a pediatric surgeon. This significant event instilled a confidence in me which has been a catalyst for my career in medicine. My vision for my future is practicing as a pediatric surgeon at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and conducting research to find a cure for congenital heart disease. I want to be the positive beacon to grant them the opportunity to dream about their future and to have aspirations as big as mine.
