After all these years of wanting to become a doctor or nurse, I fell in love with teaching, not just because I love kids, but I want to be able to help students, while I teach them and not just the everyday curriculum and the strategies we have to give them but with studies and activities they can relate to. I believe everyone that is teaching isn’t meant for it. I had a teacher in 8th grade that told us every day she didn’t care if we weren’t going to pass, she will still get paid either way. That mind set right there showed me that every teacher that told me they cared about us, really didn’t. It was hard for me to trust any teacher after that for a long time. All I did in the classroom was do my work, turn it in and wait to get out every class up until I met my favorite teacher, the woman who influenced me the most to pursue my career in the teaching profession, Mrs. Yaminah Jordan. She was the most overall enthusiastic, real, and down to Earth teacher anyone can have. She always seemed like a tough cookie, but she was very genuinely helpful and caring. She gave each and every one of her student the up most respect she wanted back. Even though she had some that wouldn’t act right, like me, but when she got on us we all came on top. I mean finishing school with 4.0s, straight A’s, perfect attendance, she did it all with just showing us she truly cared for …show more content…
I hope to be a great role model for the teachers that are not as into their job as they should be. Some teachers will tell you that they gave been in the profession m any years, but you can’t tell that they are into their teaching as they should be. They are not giving this child the advice or help that they need daily. I hope to become more than just a teacher that is all about books and the curriculum, I want my students to always want to be ready and excited for the next day, that’s how you keep the students off the streets and into the books. I want all my students to succeed and become great at whatever they may do. My legacy would be to have every student know that they were cared for from Ms. Spain. Not, because that’s what teachers should do, but because I took the time to break it down, push them through, and reward them after they have done it. You cannot get rewarded when you have no goals set up. Every student will have a goal and by the end of each semester, I’m determined to push them to meeting that goal. I want everyone to succeed. While teachers give up, I push. While students give up, I push. Meeting goals are important, but to learn while meeting them is amazing. Teaching is not easy and even though I haven’t even started yet, I know that it’s going to be trials and tribulations, but

I expect to use professional communication at all times and always be in the loop with teachers, so I can always have a solution to a problem or if I have a question about something. Students need to know why it is important to learn what I am teaching them and how it can empower their education. I will get better at communicating with parents and staff because I will constantly be providing feedback about students and myself to them. Conducting conferences with students and the school’s staff will mold me into a master teacher as the years come by. My mentor tells me that without communication there would be gaps and that is not a good aspect of your teaching path.…

This gives me motivation to enjoy every class, since I know that it is another lesson that makes the lives of my students better. The next area that needs to be addressed for all aspiring teachers, is the ability to show compassion and firm control of the classroom. I always wonder if my desire to help my students will keep me from giving the firm speech that propelled me into the career path I have chosen. This is why I believe few people have the ability to be a successful mentor, especially in the high school age. Both of these aspects are needed to be an effective instructor in any environment, however, the greatest challenge between these two categories is the ability to continue my own education.…

She shows up every day early in the morning to spend the necessary time providing tutoring for her students, and she ensures that all the students receive the education they need. Some teachers I have known only teach right when there are supervisors in the room but she always has something to engage me. Her lessons are always fun and energetic and at the end I walk out of class knowing what I have learned that day and I’m able to apply it on the test. Ms. Caldwell is always evolving because she is always trying to improve her lessons in order to fit my learning. I remember close to the end of the year when we had our STAAR Test she would give up her Saturdays in order for us to receive tutoring and finish our work with the her…

This semester, I have learned plenty of concepts and material that have shaped my teaching methods. Our class has helped to develop a strong curriculum, but also, to understand the needs and reality of every student. Also, the lectures, reading, guest professors and our visits to DCP have helped to understand why I want to be a teacher. I have learned and realized that as a future teacher, I am not going to be able to take care or help every single student, but I will do my best to assist them as much as I can. For instance, Professor Julia Gonzalez mentioned that in the first couple of years, teachers take too much responsibility and as a result, they burn out in less than four years.…

Teaching is the only career I could ever dream of pursuing. The profession is beyond rewarding and the impact I will have on my students will be more than worth it. Henry Brooks once said “Teachers affect eternity; no one can tell where their influence stops” and that is why I want to teach. I want to be the teacher, my students come back to say hi too and get help from, even when I am no longer their teacher. My ideas of what a teacher does has grown, so much throughout my experiences in the schools.…
