A smart phone is a highly developed cell phone which has more applications than the normal mobile phone. It is a personal device that connects to cellular data so as to provide online services. Smart phones have different capabilities in comparison to a normal cell phone. It can check e-mails, make phone calls, and browse the web in its basic form. Examples of smart phones’ operating systems today include, Android (Google), iPhone (Apple), Windows mobile (MS), Blackberry OS (RIM), and S60 (Symbian). It is easier to post comments on social network sites like, Face book, twitter and other blog websites using the smart phone. Also, recording significant events such as weddings is much easy with the use of smart phones. One does not need to a qualified journalist to record these events. Applications on the smart phones allow manipulation of the pictures and photographs captured (Johnson).
Apple’s iTunes are an application where one can pay for songs online. The entry of the application was more than a phenomenon. Today, it is the largest retailer of music, and it has become a way of consuming music. It is clear that the music industry has significantly benefited from the application. Everyone can agree with the fact that iTunes have dramatically changed the music industry. In fact, a few months ago, it sold its songs totaling to ten billion. The number of songs sold daily is startling. ITunes has changed the music industry in three ways other than selling many songs (Jobs, 2007).
By the use of iTunes, one can purchase a single song instead of the whole album. Gone are the days when customers were to buy the whole album though they were only interested in the song on the air. Today, customers can peck around for songs from a list. One can make his own album from a selection of his own songs. So iTunes make music be available and affordable to the customers (Jobs, 2007)
