There are several Early Childhood Model programs that recognize the critical importance of educational experiences during the early years. Montessori schools are just one of the programs that produce short-and long-term positive effects on children’s cognitive and social development. The Montessori Method of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. This program is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children. Montessori Method has been verified with over 100 years of accomplishment in several diverse cultures throughout the world. Dr. Montessori opened the first Montessori school in Rome on January 6, 1907, called the Casa dei Bamnini. Montessori schools serve children from infant, toddler, and through high school level. These schools can be located in rural, urban, and suburban settings. Tuition will vary widely because the schools are operated independently. Tuitions range from $999 per year to $14,000 per year. If parents do not need full-time care students only go to school two or three days, but most schools will expect students to attend five days. In order to be a Montessori teacher requires a special teacher preparation. The preparation is called Teacher Education Programs (TEPs) which are affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS).
