Pre-K Classroom Observation Report

In the Pre-K classroom that I observed it consisted of several different centers for the children to participate in, such as: block area, dramatic play, art, library, sand/water table, music/movement, sensory area, finger painting, play dough, and the students got the opportunity to make their own snacks. Not only did the students get to participate in centers, they had the opportunity each day to go outside and play on the playground as well as having an interactive lecture every morning at circle time and when the students sat down at their tables to do their daily worksheet.
I believe that the Pre-K class I observed was a mix between traditional teaching as well as constructivism, creating a balance between the two. In the morning during circle time, the teacher would “lecture” the students with the letter of the day, go over the date, months, days of the week, shapes, and the numbers up to the date it currently was. During this time, the teacher didn’t just lecture though, she also involved the students by having them say the months, the days of the week, count to the day they are at on the

The students may use crayons, paints, play dough, clay, scissors, glue and paper to express themselves through their art work. By moving spontaneously to music, the students may express feelings of sadness, happiness, joy, or excitement.
I do not think that standardized testing is important in early childhood classrooms. I believe that the school’s superintendent or principal should be able to go into the classroom on any given day and observe/ question the students to see what they know and don’t know. Through the observation and questioning, the superintendent or principal should be able to determine if the teacher is doing their job of teaching the students the required information or

    My observation was done on a Pre-K class room at a local Kinder Care Learning Center around 4:30pm in the afternoon. During this time the teachers are preparing the children to leave for the day. The class room was set up to show that the kids were preparing for regular school and not just spending their entire day napping and singing songs.
