In the interview, what I thought I did well was ask questions that pertained to the research topic. In addition, I was able to engage the interviewee. For instance, she was comfortable speaking about the sensitive topic. I communicated effectively with the interviewee. I think having pre-selected questions was helpful with helping the conversation flow naturally. I also applied motivational interviewing techniques during the interview. For instance, I maintain good posture and open body language. I did a job of summarizing at the end of the interview as well.
What will you do differently next interview(s)?
What I would do differently in the next interview is utilize silence and focus the conversation more in the direction of my research topic. In addition, I did cut off the interviewee once because I was focused on my next question. Another thing I would do differently is to listen more and probe more when asking follow up questions. I think I was focused on making sure the few questions that I asked were answered in the interview. Furthermore, I was also constantly checking the time and recorder to make sure the equipment was still working which, could have been distracting for the interviewee.

I did fumble a little on my words. In addition, I should have focused more on non-verbal cues. I think this will be helpful in the future to fully understand the person. The other area of future growth is directing the conversation because she would divert from the topic that I was exploring for my research project. However, I did enjoy the fact that she spoke a lot about her life and her eating disorder
