New hires are provided with expectations when they attend the new hire orientation and are reminded at the thirty day performance appraisal. Existing employees will review the expectations on a yearly basis or within thirty days of assuming a new duty position with Dunkin Donuts. The performance appraisal should be geared to commend the employee for positive performance and will be used as a tool to assist those underperforming employees. The employee that is performing above expectations will be rewarded with a pay raise. For the underperforming employee, the manager will inform the employee of any weaknesses and a detailed plan of action will be drafted and presented to the employee to assist the employee in becoming a positive performer. The plan of action will be assessed in thirty days to determine whether or not the employee has progressed. If it is determined that the employee has not improved in his performance, then, Dunkin’ Donuts reserves the right to terminate the employee. Performance appraisals are to be conducted informally on a quarterly basis and formally on an annual basis. The objective of the performance appraisal is to provide accurate and timely feedback so that an employee can react
