Dora was raised in Lynchburg, SC, receiving her education in the Lee County, SC Public School System. At an early age, Dora accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at St. Matthews A.M.E. Church in Lynchburg, SC.
After leaving South Carolina, Dora relocated to Washington, DC with her daughter Ebony arriving at her sister Dot's house where she stayed until she secured her own home. She received her Associate’s Degree from Strayer University, after which, she went to work for Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC for several years. Following her tenure at Walter Reed, she took a position with the Department of Justice's Civil Division Commercial Litigation Branch, Corporate Financial Section where she worked for 15 years until her health would no longer allow. …show more content…
Make no mistake about it, her daughter Ebony was the apple of her eye. The love she had for family couldn't be compared to the love she had for GOD. She Loved HIM more than anything! Her zest for life was exemplified each time in her big, beautiful smile (no matter how she felt). She loved to read and cook, and enjoyed watching cooking shows. She would demonstrate her culinary skills often and everyone left happy with a satisfied stomach. She was known for “giving everyone the benefit of doubt”, unlike her sisters, Dot and Jackie, who said, “they needed to check then double
