History of Dolce & Gabbana

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are two Italian born artist that begin the Dolce & Gabbana empire we know today. Through groundbreaking achievements and outwardly approach to the taboos of society, these two men established what sex, glam and fashion had in common, the people. In the early 1980s two colleagues turned partners created a brand that represented their lifestyles while including and rooting for the outcasts of society. The two men worked with one another sharing interest in fashion as well as each other. Overtime the two became partners and created Dolce & Gabbana.
Dolce & Gabbana was the start of a brand that exudes sex, glamour, and high fashion without compromising its image. Over the years the company grew in favor of the people all across Europe because of its Italian roots and the pride of Italian culture that was exhibited in the clothing. Using their culture and traditions while adding their twist, Dolce & Gabbana soon seen its spot in the limelight and managed to hold its place. Started in 1892 by David T. Abercrombie as a hunting company it was known as David T. Abercrombie Co. until a wealthy lawyer named Ezra Fitch bought part of the company which prompted the name change to what we know today, Abercrombie and Fitch (Mallory Scholssberg 2016). The company has seen its rise and fall in the fast fashion industry having its prime during the late 1930s as a sportswear brand that people like Teddy Roosevelt were captured wearing. The brand went through a rollercoaster of owners, being bought by Oshman's Sporting Goods in 1977 then being bought out again by The Limited in 1988 (Scholssberg 2016).
