Do White Privileges Exist

Out of all the concept that have been discussed so far, the concept of privileges peaked my interest. The term “white privileges” do exist and has been for a while, but when the majority are asked whether whites have special privileges than the minorities, they deny it. At the same time, if the question were directed toward the minority group, they agree with the statement. So why is it that whites deny this term and colored people do not? Now if the question were gear in another direction where it is “black privileges” instead of white, the findings are reverse. What’s interesting about this is, there is no such thing as “black privileges” as Caucasians claimed it to be. It just cannot be because blacks cannot be racist as they are the oppressed group with lesser power. While whites are the one that holds the most power and benefit the most from it while withholding powers from colored people. Therefore, it simply does not exist if “white privileges” still exist. Those who belong to the white society are handed the silver spoon. They are exempt from hardship and putting extra effort into getting the same opportunities as someone who does because that person’s skin color is darker. As stated in class, “white is invisible”, they are given the benefit of the doubt while those of colored are not. They do not have to deal with the constant anxiety minorities are forced to face whenever a police officer approaches them.
