A differentiation strategy calls for the development of a product or service that offers unique attributes that are valued by customers and that customers perceive to be better than or different from the products of the competition (Strategies 2016). Disney five universal assets of a successful business also known as Disney Chain of Excellence is made up of leadership excellence, cast excellence, guest satisfaction, and financial results/ repeat business. Leadership Excellence has to do with management. Communication plays a big role in The Walt Disney Company; Leaders need to be able to effectively express expectations. Leaders must encourage all employees to be creative and the leader must create a safe and comfortable environment for the employees to share their ideas. The Walt Disney Company expects their leaders to value their employees. A leader first priority should be employee satisfaction, not customer satisfaction. Cast members are one of The Walt Disney Company main priorities. The Walt Disney Company cast members do not have jobs they have roles, while outside the park the cast members are off stage and while inside the park the cast members are on stage. The cast members do not have uniforms, they have costumes. Everyone has a role in the show. Creating this magical experience for not only their “guest” but for their cast members makes you feel important and makes your “role” more interesting. It is an intentional element of the company culture, a culture that is well defined, clear to all, and is goal-oriented (Magical Experiences 2016).
