In today’s world, one goal almost every person is trying to reach is the most advanced position at a job, manager. It takes a person that can lead an entire team and can accompany any problems that should arise to be an excellent manager. It is a grueling task to have to take on, but if you choose the right management style, it can come natural. In fact there are many different types of management styles: directive, authoritive, affiliative, participative, pacesetting, and coaching. The most strict management style is directive. When someone has a directive approach to things, that person wants things to be done exactly how they want with no questions asked. Directive managers tend to micromanage or control every aspect of a project, making employees scared to continue a project when the manager is not in the room to supervise. For example, if an employee is setting up a table for the new office and the manager gives that employee directions up to a certain point and then steps outside to take a phone …show more content…
This manager expects for employees to follow in his example and do things the way he does it. They tend to give an example for something and then demonstrate it. This can be helpful when teaching a new task that is not yet known by anyone but the manager. It can become an issue when they begin to take over what all the other employees are trying to work on. In general, for a small business where they could use a lot of help, this would be a great management style. But when there is a large work environment such as a factory housing a thousand employees, it may be hard to demonstrate and teach all of them a certain task. It is required that employees are very motivated in their work and the manager must know what they are doing to assure that things are done well. This can become a problem when the type of work done requires many people to get it
