Which is best, collaborative work or individual work? Today, businesses and school are trying to find the answer. Collaborative work is working as a team to complete a task, and individual work is a task completed by a single person. Businesses want to find out how to get the most out of their employees, and schools want to prepare their students for the workforce. Having good communication and teamwork skills is essential to succeeding in the business world. The ability to work in effectively in groups is keen for employers seeking new employees. NACE, (National Association of College and Employers) on a scale of five being the highest and one being the lowest. NANE ranked “Ability to work in team structure” a 4.60. (NACE). Employers are looking for employees that can work in a team. Schools should prepare students for the workforce by allowing students to work collaboratively. To ensure that students are able to excel in the workforce and become productive employees. The United States Labor Department has classified teamwork as, “An essential part of success in the workplace” (DOL). Ignorance in teamwork skills can diminish an employee’s potential and worth.
