Introduction
Developing a Customized Learning Theory is absolutely essential in understanding who your student is and how your student functions. From birth children focus their attention on the world around them and attempt to understand life however they can. As a Christian educator, I believe that each individual is unique in the way that they learn. The scripture tells us in Psalms “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well” (Holy Bible).
In her book Human Learning, Jeanne Ellis Omrod defines learning as “a relatively permanent change in mental representations or associations as a result of experience (Omrod 2012 p 323). With this truth comes many questions about how learning occurs, my customized learning theory answers many of these questions of curiosity. Aside from this question, my customized learning theory also included answered to questions such as: what factors should a teacher consider as they plan lessons? What role does the classroom environment have on student learning? All of these questions must be answered as they play an essential role in how in instruction, classroom management, technology integration, and relationships with their students. As an educator, I will abide by three specific principles of ethics. The principle of respect, the principle of integrity, and the principle of justice. As educators, one…
