Texting and driving is not the only thing that can cause distraction. With new technology, hands free cell-phone use makes it easier for people to send texts without touching the screen in any way. In the end is it really that safe? Hands free cell-phone usage is a form of cognitive distraction. The act of cognitive distraction is when someone is taking their mind off of their driving. This could put your life at risk, and possibly someone else’s. Texting and driving can end lives at any minute. People have created myths about texting that are a “safe” alternative, but no alternative to texting and driving is anywhere near safe. In the end, you are still pressing the send button which is a form of visual, manual, and cognitive distraction, which could be deadly in every way.
