That is not a big enough penalty. The penalty should be big enough that people do not want to risk it, and one hundred dollars is not a big enough fine. I believe that the penalty for texting and driving should be the loss of the individuals licence for six months and a fine of five hundred dollars. For the second offence the individual should lose their licence for twelve months and a fine of one thousand dollars, and if the individual gets a third citation for texting and driving the individual should lose their licence for 24 months a fine of three thousand dollars and community service. I believe that if the penalty is enforced more with a more harsh penalty people will follow the law

The more forceful a consequence becomes, the chances of common texting while driving incidents could decrease. This could tame the individual’s mind to not even think about losing their focal point off the road.…

A less-harsh solution could be to force drivers who’ve been caught texting while operating their motor vehicle to attend a weekend class about the dangers of texting while driving. Although seminars and awareness campaigns have their place in society, the possibility they change the behavior of millions of drivers is slim, so says a recent National Safety Council (2014) article. A much easier-in-theory solution is simply to have parents teach their kids about the dangers of texting while driving at a young age instead of having police officers force it down their throats after they’ve already endangered themselves and everyone on the road around them. The idea of this solution is to stop the problem before it starts. This creates a possibility of a waterfall effect where that child then teaches their future child about the dangers of texting while driving, thus creating a new generation of people who are predisposed to not text when they drive.…
