Persuasive Speech: The Dangers Of Texting And Driving

I. We all done it, we know it’s dangerous but we do it anyway.
II. We just find ourselves by saying oh it will only be for one second, but this is how that one second could turn out. (show video)
III. Texting and driving, many of us see this type of commercial at least 3-4 times a month but many of us say oh that’s never going to happen to me.
IV. You may be just sending a quick hello or saying I am on my way, whatever the text may be it’s not worth losing your life or someone’s else life.
V. Texting can be extremely distracting.
VI. According to the magazine “Cell phones and Driving” states that phone usage comes into the top list as being one of the most distracting things to a driver.

First, let’s begin by how texting and driving can take your own life.
A. According to the national “Woman Health Resource” there are three kinds of distractions: fist is visual which is taking your eyes of the road, second is manual which is taking your hand of the wheel, and third is cogative which is not thinking about your driving. 1. Texting requires all three of those things.
2. With communication being right at your fingertips it is so easy to pick up your phone and text while driving.
B. The article “Newsday” states that 3,000 teen’s deaths and 300,000 injuries are caused by texting and driving per year in the United States.
1. You may take your eye off the road for just two seconds but those two seconds can end your life.
2. That one text you read or type can cause you to die so is it really worth losing your life over it II. I want to start my second point by doing this; I want everyone to close their eyes come on do it and imagine. A. you get in your car and you start driving.

The death of that seven year old boy is because you couldn’t resist your phone you couldn’t say to yourself no I am not going to text and drive but instead you choose to pick up your phone.
1. texting and driving can cause you to take the life of others.
2. Not only will it it make you feel guilty for the rest of your life but it can also cause you to go to jail for up to three year.
Transition: That message that you really want to text can wait.
III. Finally, texting and driving can cause you to get a ticket which no one wants.
A. According to the book Distracrtive Driving the first time you get pulled over you will be charged 20 dollars but the second time you get pulled over you will be charged 90 dollars fine.
1. This will also appear on your driving record.
B. in addition, according to the auto insurance now magazine insurance prices will also go up from a texting and driving ticket.
1. Although every insurance company has different policies they will raise up your insurance at different prices but at the end of the day its more money for them and less money in your pocket.
