The rapid growth of the Web has produced an epidemic of cyber bullying among youth in the US. Many people these days do not realize that bullying is not just happening on the playground, at school, or at the bus stop; it’s happening on the Internet, on social media websites and on the daily use cellphones. Cyber bullying can happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and reach a kid even when he or she is alone. It can happen any time of the day or night and include a thousand of participants. What tends to happen to that group of teens is they become emotionally unstable due to them getting bullied. They turn to drugs, suicide, and other negative type of things that they think might help them. Cyber bullying has serious psychological effects on the victims.
Cyber bullying is the most common type of bullying. Cyber bullying can be when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teenager. Cyber bullying is similar to other types of bullying, except it can happen on social media outlets or through simple text messages. It is different than ordinary bullying because cyber bullying takes place using any type of electronic technology such as; cell phones, computers, and tablets. It is not only through internet technology, but it may also include text messages, chat rooms, websites and even social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.
