Cyberbullying is a problem among teens with access to digital technology. Teenagers are commonly cyber bullied each day through social media, text messages or emails. Having technology is a privilege, but for most technology is a way to get attacked behind the screen. For a teenager, cyberbullying can be very serious to the teenage mind and body. The victims start to think the cyberbullying is all the victims fault, and feel that the cyberbullying is only happening to the victim. Cyberbullying affects teenagers lives by causing emotional and physical issues.
Teenagers are affected by cyberbullying on a daily basis. Cyber bullying happens because of cyber bullies who attack people through technology because cyber bullies do not have to show themselves: "... A cyberbully can be completely anonymous. This makes the victim feel even more helpless, because they do not know the source of the attacks"(Duverge n.pg.). Research has proven that cyber bullying affects the emotional and physical state of teenagers. The emotional state that cyber bullying puts teens in affects their behavior: "They experience trust issues and are more likely to abuse alcohol or drugs at an earlier age...develop dangerous stigmas, and experience harmful shame from their peers"(Duverge n.pg.). Since cyberbullying affects the victim's behavior they begin to have problems with those around the victim. When the victim begins to have some changes in their behavior, the behavior can lead to physical issues: "Nearly 20 percent of cyberbullying victims report having suicidal thoughts...Several high-profile suicides have been blamed on cyberbullying"(Duverge n.pg.).
