Introduction:
In the past, the scientific management which focuses on the rational system dominated the mainstream of management theory. However, in current society, managing employees’ soul is also an important issue for management. The word ”soul” includes broad and abundant implications, it could be not only beliefs, ideologies and attitudes , but also goals and sentiments. This essay aims to discuss whether the “soul management” is rational or not.

It can also be perceived as an elimination of individual diversity because everyone’s attitudes is managed. Secondly, Johnson(2013) argues that once the values and beliefs of employees are formed, it will be hard to change. In other words, the enterprise gives employees a firmly value and attitude which adopts current situation, if the leader wants to do some changes to thrive in the future, it will cause strong threatens for employees in identify.
However, the instance of IBM is still able to prove the feasibility of managing employees’ values and disciplines. Since Thomas became the president in 1952, he launched 3 disciplines for his employees: it is compulsory to respect individuals, it is compulsory to provide customers services as well as possible, it is compulsory to pursue outstanding performance in the workplaces. All of employees must obey these disciplines and these disciplines have a big impact on them. This is also an important reason for IBM’s success because it guarantees the productivity and quality of services( Henning, 2006).
Conclusion:
To sum up, there are a serious on management of employees’ souls, including increasing productivity for enterprises, raising the motivation and wages for employees and reducing conflicts between employees. Nonetheless, it is still blamed due to ethic issues and hard
