The commercials in society today are used persuasively by connecting to the audience’s sense of pathos. The connect to the audience’s emotions work to a certain extent, but sometimes fail to get the message of the actual produce across. For example, in the morethanmedication.ca the connection to the audience’s sense of emotion. However, by the end of the commercial the audience is unclear what exactly the message is. The exact reason seen by most commercials can be easily mislead today. This changed from commercials from back when the television first came out. The commercials have changed in the sense of time allowed by commercials; the commercials seemed to get to the point quicker. This can be seen through the Axe commercial, in the commercial at the end the main character says “Why are you touching your armpit? Don’t, that’s weird.” (Axe Commercial. 0:20). With the classical music playing in the background, the adds humor to the overall mood. While older commercials do have humor to a certain extent, the commercials today connect with the humor that our society understands. Also, in today’s society we use celebrities to show popularity to a certain product. Such as in the Crest 3D commercial, Shakira is used to portray the message of: If you use this product, then your teeth will look like Shakira’s teeth”. This type of bandwagon was impossible to use back in older type of propaganda due to the impossibility of Photoshop and other types of enhancement of film through technology. Our social sense of society today is always addressing in current commercials. The way commercial tend to favor the more social audience.
