A Tug on your Heart
The ad that we chose for this assignment is a commercial from the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This hospital presents its commercial by taking an emotional route by showing the children undergoing treatment for cancer and children speaking of personal experiences. This advertisement is presented through television to people watching all over the state of Texas, the country and probably the whole world. The commercial is asking for donations to help continue on the research on finding a cure for children battling all types of life-threatening illnesses ranging from brain tumors to cancer.
Playing soft moving music and showing a crying mother stating “This is my kid that they are giving back to me. I am so grateful.” These children are smiling along with their families, “You are not only saving a child’s life, you are bringing life back into their family.” The commercial reflects what St. Jude Children Research Hospital stands for, not only saving children but as well as their families. The commercial offers a way for the audience to relate to the subject through commonly held emotions.
