For my chosen assignment I am asked to analyse and give an evaluation on two profound educational theorists Maria Montessori and Fredrick Froebel, who have paved the way for future theorists to come. They have left a remarkable in-depth knowledge of childhood development. Throughout the assignment I am asked to discuss the philosophy of each theorist as well as their contribution to early childhood education, while lastly referring to my own personal beliefs of each theorist either criticising or accrediting each theorist in regards to my own personal attitudes and my own beliefs. Maria Montessori was born in Chiaravalle Italy on the 31st of August 1870 and died in Netherland on the 6th of May 1952. Montessori was an Italian innovator, educator and physician known for her innovative education methods on how children should and are supposed to naturally learn. She is the founder of the Montessori Method of education. Montessori was also the first Italian woman to receive a medical degree (Eilis and Catriona, 2013). According to O’shea C., (2017), Fredrick Froebel was born in Oberweissbach, Germany 1782 and died in Marienthal, Germany in 1852. Froebel was a nineteenth-century educator. He studied mathematics and language in Frankfurt, Pestalozzi’s progressive model school, and went to the …show more content…
I believe that they both had a huge contribution to the development in childhood education. I feel like their style of education is more focused on child development physically and mentally. They did not see children as mini adults, they saw children as little scientists and ready to explore the world around them.
