5.1 Significance of the Concept
This concept “community diagnosis is very important because it helps to find the common problems or diseases, which are troublesome to the people and are easily preventable in the community, it is a tool to disclose hidden problems that are not visible to the community people but are being affected by them, it helps to impart knowledge and attitudes to turnover people’s problems towards the height of solution. It helps health workers to convince funders both local and international governmental and non-governmental to provide them with needed resources. Community diagnosis affrids health workers opportunity to convince policy makers and other decision-makers to provide their community with needed programmes or services. Since there is always slwitage of resources to fund health care services, especially in developing countries, community diagnosis helps to gain community members’ support of health improvement solutions. It affords health workers to better understand know community public health issues, to identify new community public health issues, to lean more about the priorities, assets and concerns of community members and to offer solutions for addressing unmet health needs.
5.5 Current Research Community diagnosis is a comprehensive assessment of health status of the community in relation to its social physical and biological environment (Olise 2007). The purpose of community diagnosis is to define existing problems, determine available resources and set priorities for planning, implementing and evaluating health action, by and for the community.
