Public Health and Community Health are intertwined, often public health is included in the community, which includes health education and the promotion of health (Cottrell, Girvan, McKenzie, & Seabert, 2015). According to the World Health Organization, Public/Community Health Education/Promotion is a method used to empower, modify, and improve one’s behavior “towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions” which prevents disease, and promotes health, among the population as a whole (World Health Organization, 2016, para 1).

However, on the other hand these two entities differ in the population they educate and promote. Public/Community focuses on a specific population such infants and newborns within the community that may be through an organization such as Women Infant and Child (WIC). Whereas Worksite Health Education focuses on the population of employees within an organization such as healthcare employees in a hospital.
Laws, rules, and regulations are often developed due to Public/Community and Worksite Health Education/Promotion. Although these laws are for the greater good often some individuals may feel their rights are infringed upon. An example of a Worksite Health Education/Promotion rule implemented by some hospitals is mandating healthcare workers such as nurses to receive the influenza vaccine. Some healthcare workers feel alternatives should be available to employees that do not want to receive the vaccine. An alternative that could be provided to employees would be to require them to wear facial masks during the influenza
