When interviewing for a job, companies will look for oral and written skills more than anything else. These skills are necessary for accounting because accountants need to be able to talk to each other and understand what is going on in the world in order to do their work. “Good communication skills would open many doors for the students and help them to build up a strong resume. Also, they will need these skills after they find a job” (Liu, 2012). This states that communication skills aren’t only necessary once someone interested gets into the profession but also in school prior to their job so they can be prepared for what they have coming in their field of work. In the article it also mentions that having a poorly written resume will automatically prevent or make it hard to get a job. During this interview I learned not only about the communication in business but also more about what accounting is and the path that must be taken to get there. She started off by saying the top 3 most important keys to being an accountant are communication skills, work ethic, and flexibility. She listed communication as the top key and the most important thing that is needed to be an accountant. I then asked her what are the most common ways and forms of communications, she explained how over half of her daily schedule is just answering emails most days. Kris also mentioned the most common software used is Microsoft, she said it is the most popular and easiest to use for all forms of business.
