There are a few items I would share with my father about what I have. The first item I would like to explain would be how different an online experience is compared to an in-class setting. His entire college career was spent in the classroom so I think he sees these courses as a gimmick. Accessing the Bethel Online Database (Chambers, 2016) and letting him experience some of the resources first hand should set his mind at ease.
The second item I would show him would be the tips we are given in our Read and Attend sections on how to become writers. Working through the 10 tips for “Having the “Write” Stuff” (Chambers, 2016 p. 3) would allow him to be proactive in giving me advice related to my coursework.

I agree that communication is a very important skill to master for either professional or personal relationships. You are being judged on your communication skills every time you have an encounter with another individual. These communications can be electronic or verbal in nature. I am a Law Enforcement Officer and this is one skill that can be advantageous especially when in court. Moving forward I hope to improve my communication skills through our coursework and with the help of our facilitators.
Like you I struggled in my early years of school especially when it came to public speaking. I have always been very shy and lacked confidence in my communication skills. Due to this fact I found it difficult at times to participate in class. One of the tips listed in our Read section this week has proven helpful to me in the past. Setting aside time to read (Bethel University, 2016) has helped expand my vocabulary and improve my confidence. On occasion you should try and set a little bit of time to the side to read.
