According to Eiseman, Edwards & Cushman, (2015) learning how to manage a classroom effectively is a difficult task for preservice teachers. Eiseman noted how classroom management receives little attention, professional development, research, or professional discussion. Classroom management at times is not considered top priority in some universities in the field of education. There is an excessive need for more professional development for teachers in regards to classroom management. According to Jones, Bailey & Jacob, (2014) classroom management is perhaps the most underdeveloped area of teacher education. When teachers receive professional development; they gain experience in strategies to help with classroom management. Eiseman stated, “While we view classroom management as an important topic, its focus on student behavior instead of learning leaves it relegated to a second class status that practioners deal with but is not part of their field of study. Until we begin to evaluate classroom management based on its effects of learning, the profession will not take it seriously”. Teachers most definitely benefit from the day to day encounters of managing a classroom. Teachers begin to realize what mechanisms work in their classrooms in order to have an effective classroom management plan. As noted in the study completed by Rock, Schoenfield, Zigmond, Gable, Gregg, Ploessi, & Salter (2013) without effective systems of training and support, countless other teachers will leave the profession
