Classroom management is crucial for every teacher to have in a successful learning environment. I believe that students need to be controlled and disciplined; students at this age need to be guided in the right path. They are capable of self-discipline but need to be shown what the rules of the classroom are and what is the expectation of the teacher. I believe that students are basically good but that the environment around them influences them tremendously. If they maintain busy with instruction then they will not have time to be disruptive and they need to be guided to behave appropriately. Students should feel that they are in a safe, nurturing and supporting environment where they can learn. The rules in the classroom should implicate …show more content…
Respecting one another will be an expectation in my classroom and there will be no tolerance for being disrespectful. I view students as equals because they are at school to gain an education and just like I expect them to listen and respect me I will do the same for them. They will learn better and listen if I demonstrate that I care for their best interest in learning. I do not believe that establishing a democratic classroom and giving students responsibility is letting them take over the classroom because students will have their own opinion, they are all unique individuals who not only learn differently but have a different way of thinking and allowing them to have a say in their own learning is not letting them control the classroom. It is the teacher’s responsibility to set rules and expectations in the classroom and control students who are repeating bad …show more content…
Also taking away their free time because they were very talkative a day in class. Students will learn by example and this will modify their behavior. Positive and negative consequences will vary behavior but creating an intervention plan with bad students will help them understand and slowly monitor progress. During my field experience I have noticed that my cooperative teacher has taken away fun activities/ labs in class because of the way that students were behaving and this has shown a positive impact on their behavior in future classes because the teacher follows thru with what she says she will do if they do not behave. The ultimate goal of my classroom management is not to manage control of the class but to ensure that everyone meets my expectations in order for them to learn in an effective and supportive environment but to teach students self-discipline and to understand the rules and consequences of my classroom by acting accordingly. I would feel more comfortable adhering to the tenets of a school adopted classroom management program to start with because it is familiar with what students have been seeing as a school wide concept but then to see what specific classroom related rules I may want to add or have more classroom engagement rules that the students may want to add so that they feel

The environment is critical because you want to create a safe learning environment that will help students be able to engage in the lesson. Also, being able to interact with students is critical, for if you do not have that relationship with them, it will be hard to teach. Students must be allowed to follow their own path to discovery. Sometimes it can be acceptable for teachers to adapt lessons if students show a particular interest in a topic, or if they struggle to grasp a concept right away. Flexibility and adaptability are very important to a certain extent, but it is also important to maintain some sort of stability in the classroom as well so that a progressive pace remains. Again, it is important that all involved in the process of learning are involved and…

“Much of what we come by in life, after our initial enculturation, involves a mixture of acquisition and learning” (Gee 539). By “acquisition” Gee explains it as a way to gain knowledge through practice and experience, while “learning” is the opposite, it’s teaching a concept by breaking the subject down entirely (Gee 539). A good teacher uses both “acquisition” and “learning” in teaching their students. Teachers should have students acquire the subject on their own; for instance, having the students learn in class while acquiring what they learned outside of class in the real world. Teachers should also encourage creativity into their classrooms, furthermore giving lessons that are creative and out of the box get the gears in the student’s heads moving.…

When planning my lesson it is an important that I ensure I use appropriate learning material for the selected grade. Furthermore I must ensure I perpetuate good values and serve as a role model for the learners in my classroom. Another essential aspect is that I must make learners aware that they have the right of freedom of expression although it comes with a responsibility to ensure they do not abuse this right therefore instilling morals and values in to the learners. I will be able to achieve this when I set clear rules such as “every learner must respect different perspectives” other classroom rules will be made up with the assistance of the learners, gaining important ideals from the learners will ensure that have input in their classroom environment. This is essential as every learner needs to feel that their feelings, principles or complaints are being taken seriously, which will implement a positive environment that will allow effective teaching and learning to take place.…

Being able to teach to the students individually and not teaching to the test increases student confidence in the classroom. Teaching students that learning is forever can put meaning behind what students are currently being taught. As an educator it is my responsibility to find methods of teaching students that are most effective. Meaning I should develop strategies that follow the curriculum and cover each lesson effectively. I need to ask myself questions such as, If the curriculum is changing based upon the responses I am receiving from the students, is it changing effectively and correctly so that my students are not left behind?…
